What would you suggest is the regular replacement rate for the probe tips? Is it a number of cycles/parts tested, or are their additional factors contributing to tip life? Because of many variables, it would be difficult to predict the lifespan of these electro-mechanical-thermal parts. The heated, threaded tips should be changed when they appear misshaped or have a dramatic change in readings.   Most often, if readings shift unexpectedly, the threaded ends need to be tightened or replaced.

What would govern the type of tip shape that would be preferable for a specific operation? So when would a spherical tip be used in place of a flat or round tip? The best tip choice is based on the geometry or shape of the test metal part and the angle of the heated test probe. The Blunt Tip is the best choice if the hot probe is perpendicular to the test metal. The Conical Tip would get bent or damaged because of many repetitive taps.   The Spherical Tip is used chiefly if angles of contact vary.
