When you specify 303 stainless steel and pay for 303 stainless steel, how can you be sure that you have 303 stainless steel? Mixing this desirable material with standard 304 can result in various nasty problems. Koslow Scientific Company understands the importance of sorting 303 from other stainless steels. Supplier certifications and importer's promises are not enough; the Sulfur Seeker Stainless Steel ID Kit (Part No. 1516) can give you the confirmation that you need. Test it yourself! No need for expensive XRF equipment. No need to file off samples to mail to metallurgical testing labs. Verify your stainless steel 303 incoming and outgoing stock. Use the quality testing solutions ordered by engineers, fabricators, welders, and scrap metal dealers.
APPLICATIONS:
- Verify Stainless Steel 303: tanks, pipes, welds, wire, castings, and more!
- Spot test kit for identification of alloy content
- Detect sulfur in SS 303, SS 416, and SS 430F
- Quick 303 vs. 304 sorting
- Quality control and inspection tool
FEATURES:
- More effective than XRF
- Very easy to use
- Rapid Results, 20-second sulfur test
- Portable - uses the popular sensitive test paper method
- Economical, 200 tests per kit
- Non-destructive
- Reliable
- Test any size piece of Stainless, from tiny wires to large tanks
- Supplies for over 200 tests.
TEST PROCEDURE:
- Place a test paper on your metal
- Place a drop of solution A onto the paper
- Apply current to the moist spot using the Electro-Spot
- Follow with the addition of solution B
- A vibrant color develops, revealing the composition
HOW IT WORKS:
Sensitive and interference-free chemical color tests detect the alloying components. A brown spot develops due to a chemical reaction, and generally, the intensity of the brown spot can be used to estimate the amount of alloying components present. Spot tests are easier, faster, and cheaper than chemical analysis. This test kit's results are non-quantitative, although estimates are based on the brightness of color. Color results are usually sufficient for alloy identification differentiation and verification. Ask us about getting metal sample references.
