When you specify a 300 series stainless steel and pay for 300 stainless steel, how do you know you actually have 300 stainless steel? Mixing this desirable material with  SS200 can result in a variety of corrosion problems.

APPLICATIONS:

  • Stainless Steel 200 Series vs. 300 Series ID.
  • Contains the Nickel Test and the Manganese Test to verify the 300 series: tanks, pipes, welds, wire, castings, and more— a rapid color spot test kit for identification of alloy content.
  • Detect nickel and manganese in Stainless as well as other alloys.

FEATURES

  • Easy, no training needed
  • Rapid Results 20-second nickel and manganese test
  • Portable - uses the famous Electro-Spot Method.
  • Economical
  • NDT Non-destructive Test
  • Metal Standards included
  • Durable, heavy-duty design, drop-resistant case
  • Reliable LED indicates the current flow of the Electro-Spot Alloy Extractor.]
  • Test any size piece of Stainless - from tiny wires to huge tanks.
  • Safe Handling Instructions and expiration dates on Test Solution Bottles

TEST PROCEDURE:

  1. Place a test paper on your metal
  2. Place a drop of solution A onto the paper
  3. Apply current to the moist spot using the Electro-Spot
  4. Follow with the addition of solution B
  5. A vibrant color develops, revealing the composition!

HOW IT WORKS

A chemical spot test is a diagnostic test performed by the electro-spot method. Sensitive and interference-free chemical color tests detect the alloying components. Color develops due to a chemical reaction; generally, the brightness's intensity can be used to estimate the amount of alloying component present.  Spot tests are more straightforward, faster, and cheaper than chemical analysis. The density of color reactions is correlated to nominal composition.  Spot tests are usually sufficient for alloy identification differentiation and verification. The 1596 Kit includes two metal samples to be used as a testing reference. Working with the 201 and 304 Stainless Steel ID Kit Calibration Standard will vividly demonstrate a positive result.
