These four steps show the simplicity and ease of the complete Koslow ElectroSpot method for metal identification.
1. Moisten test paper
3. Add solution
4. Note Color
The ElectroSpot Method combines electrochemical sampling, the heart of all the Koslow kits, with the well known color spot test. In the Koslow method of electrochemical sampling, a minute amount of the unknown material is electrically deplated into a chemically treated test paper.
The dissolved material reacts with the treated paper resulting in the development of a characteristic, generally vivid color. In addition to the speed and simplicity of the procedure, the Koslow ElectroSpot test is reproducible and can therefore be used to estrimate the amount of a particular alloying element present in a sample.
